As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. 25 And this is what he promised us—eternal life. (1 John 2: 24-25)
If you have known him and accepted Him (Jesus) as your Lord and Savior I pray that you always remain in Him. Life is so good with Jesus, full of peace, self-love, and so much more. I thank God almost every day that He gave me the honor and the privilege of knowing Him because that is when my life started. By saying self-love I am not trying to say, self-centered love, I am talking about the love that is the result of knowing well how much you are loved by the Almighty and deciding to love yourself as a way of thanking Him for the beautiful creature He created (you). But you must believe and receive His love to be able to do that.
Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble. (1 John 2:10)
I believe that no one can give what he/she doesn’t have. You cannot love others as the bible tells us without loving yourself first. The devil always attacks our self-love because he knows this. We can only live in the light if we love others and the bible tells us that that love will prevent us from stumbling. Love is truly the pillar for living a joyful life and guess what, the bible tells us that God is love (1 John 4:8). God is the pillar for living a joyful life.
When you love God, you do everything you can to obey His word. You seek His face constantly, and you pray without ceasing because you know that you don’t belong to this world but to God. God already gave us eternal life because if we received Him death doesn’t have power over us anymore. The death we know and fear is only a gate to enter our eternal life. Let’s try our best to live as Jesus did and not deny Him as Peter did (Read peter’s story in John 13: 31-38).
But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: 6 Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. (1 John 2: 5-6)
Denying Jesus is compromising yourself just because you don’t want to look a certain way in front of your friends, it is taking part in activities that do not honor Him, It is not putting Him first in your life because there are some things that you want to keep controlling. To be able to receive God’s love, love others, and live like Jesus did, we must dwell in His presence. We must put Him first by sparing time for Him at every opportunity we get. We must pray continuously because that is the only way He can work on us. Peter did not deny Jesus because he wanted to, it is because he did not stay awake and pray when Jesus told him and the disciples to. They fell asleep instead of praying and the devil took that opportunity. Let us stay awake and pray as the devil is roaring like a lion seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5: 8-9).
Prayer: Father God, thank you for your word, thank you for giving me the privilege to know you and giving me eternal life. Father help me to stay awake and pray without ceasing and give me the power to receive your love so that I may be able to love myself and others well. Help me to be a light in this dark world and live like Jesus so that others may see you through me. Help me to remain in You o Lord, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
