Your role is very important

We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. 2 Corinthians 5:20

As followers of Christ, we become ambassadors of the Kingdom of God. In researching the role of an ambassador, I found that an ambassador is a resident and not a citizen of the country to which he or she has been accredited. The ambassador always identifies himself as a citizen of the country of origin. The Ambassador works to represent and advance the foreign policy objectives and administration of his home country in the host country.

I believe that to represent a country effectively, you have to love it and know it well. This means being aware of all the rules and regulations of the country and being willing to do everything in one’s power to represent it in all areas, which means that one would be willing to boldly defend one’s beliefs even when the place of residence is telling otherwise.

This is the same regarding the Kingdom of God. We were appointed by God to represent Him in the kingdom we live in, to make His appeal through us. The world will know Him because of our lives, our love, our attitudes, our kindness, our goodness, our faithfulness, and our gentleness. The world is looking at us and his only hope to be saved is found in us. Our role is very important because we represent the biggest, highest, holy, and righteous kingdom of all time. This may bring a toll on our shoulders as it is a big responsibility but do not be afraid because we have a helper who is the Holy Spirit. He communicates God’s desires to us, helps us discern His will, and gives us the ability to do everything God tells us to do.

Take time to reflect on your life, are you a good ambassador of the Kingdom of God? Are you representing well His Kingdom at your job, school, home, church, or neighborhood? Are you a good ambassador when things are not going the way you want? In all the circumstances? Are you representing Him in your relationships with others? Are you the hand that helps others when in need or do you criticize/ talk about them? Are you loving those who are hard to love? Are you standing firm on the truth of God even when others are going the opposite way? Are you a faithful ambassador?

If not, then it’s time to repent and remember that repenting is turning back to God asking for forgiveness, and then going in the right direction. It’s time to represent Him and be devoted to His Kingdom. Let’s remind ourselves that we are residents of the world but not citizens. Our Kingdom is not of this world but it is from another place (John 18:36). We represent the highest Kingdom that existed and that will ever exist, we are of a high rank. Let’s live like it.

Prayer: Father God, thank you for calling me and appointing me as your ambassador. Thank you for choosing me even when I did not deserve it. Thank you for loving me and still calling me your ambassador even when I am not fulfilling my job the way I am supposed to. Thank you for giving me a helper and guide in the accomplishment of my job as an ambassador. May every person I encounter get the desire to be part of your Kingdom. May every person of this world give their life to you and become a citizen of your kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
