Things don’t have to be complicated (2)

We saw in last week’s post that God knows our needs before we even realize them ourselves and that he meets them exactly in his time. He knew that Adam needed a helper like him. He had him notice the need and brought Eve to Adam after he caused a deep sleep to fall upon him and formed Eve from his rib. That was before the fall, when man’s heart would receive God’s thought so easily that God’s will perfectly met man’s need and the later would oppose no resistance.

Such communion with God is still possible. It results from a life of deep and constant prayer. Praying being an activity of the spirit, the spirit that prays is a well-nourished, strong and healthy spirit. The more we pray, the more we feed on the word , the greater our communion with God and the more intimate our relationship with the father who can thus communicate his thoughts to us.

The difficulty lies in constancy, and without constancy there is no depth, without depth there is no intimacy, without intimacy the relationship is neither rich nor pleasant. To choose to spend a lot of time with someone, you have to love him and you can’t love someone you don’t know. Get to know God first, meet him several times, discover him, love him more and more as you get to know him better, to the point of desiring his presence more than anything in the world. Between a boy and a girl, there comes a day when they decide to unite their lives because they have built a relationship together that has allowed them to discover that they are made for each other. It’s the same with God. The more we search for him, the more we know him, the more we discover him, the more we want of him. We desire his presence more than anything else, his word becomes like food that we love and that we would gladly eat all the time and every day. Thus, constancy becomes easier.

Give yourself the time to know God, to discover him, and you will no longer want to leave his presence. You will no longer want to do anything outside of his will. The more you know him, the more you will love him, the more you will spend time with him and want to do things with him.

Prayer: Father God, I want to receive your thought and let you perfectly realize your will and your plan in my life. Come and have your way in me, O Lord. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
