I am continually amazed by how God speaks to us! Recently, He revealed a profound truth about myself—something buried deep in my heart that has affected many areas of my life. He showed me that I am self-centered. Wow! That realization struck me deeply. What I love about God is that when He uncovers something within us that doesn’t align with His kingdom, He gently and warmly invites us to change. It’s an invitation to transform, not through condemnation, but through His love and grace.
The pivotal question we must ask ourselves is: Is all the glory going to God, or are we seeking it for ourselves? To ensure that God receives all the glory in everything we do, we must truly die to our fleshly desires and ego.
During His sermon on the Mount called Beatitudes, Jesus talked about Meekness which means strength under control. He said, blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5
This is a call to embrace humility and to recognize that true strength comes from surrendering to God’s will. When you die to flesh, blessings follow. The poor in spirit recognize they are incapable of providing for themselves by their own strength, goodness or righteousness. Each beatitudes begins with a reference to those who are blessed, in connection to some behavior or attitude. Admitting that we can’t do anything to earn God’s Kingdom provides us the entrance to His Kingdom. All the glory belongs to Him as nobody comes to the Father except through faith in Christ by the forgiveness of sin.
Has God revealed something within you that causes you to mourn and repent from selfishness? Matthew 5:4 tells us, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” Being blessed doesn’t always equate to being happy. As followers of Christ, we often confront the darkness within us. Yet, we are blessed because God reveals our inner darkness with the intention of healing us and making us vessels for His glory! We witness His loving, graceful, and gentle nature as He transforms us into who He wants us to be, for His GLORY.
Maybe God has prompted you to approach a friend and share the message of Jesus, but you fear losing that friendship. God graciously gives you time to reflect, but He also reminds you that your ultimate purpose is to please Him above all else. You take a leap of faith and share, and perhaps you do lose that cherished friendship. In the midst of this, God reminds you that you are blessed as you mourn the old habits and behaviors still in you. Through this, you will feel His gentleness and love more profoundly.
Prayer: Beloved Father, I thank You for Your gentle and loving nature. As I rise each morning, may my heart be set on becoming less so that You may become more in my life. Help me to see the areas where I seek my own glory and guide me to turn those moments into opportunities to glorify You. Lord, when You reveal the darkness within me, give me the strength to face it and the grace to be transformed by Your love. Let me be a vessel of Your peace, joy, and love to those around me. May every step I take and every decision I make be a reflection of Your will and Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
