Imagine your heart as the engine that drives your life. When it’s pure, you move forward with power and clarity. But if it gets clogged with bitterness or anger, you lose that power and your sense of direction. Forgiveness is the key to keeping your heart pure. If you don’t forgive others, the Lord won’t forgive you. Remember, your true enemy isn’t the person who wronged you but the negative spirit behind their actions. Understanding this helps you fight the right battles. A pure heart needs to be filled with something greater than itself; it needs to be submitted to Jesus.
I have been reading the book of Ecclesiastes and I find it like a treasure map, guiding us through the questions of life’s purpose. The writer searches for meaning in every corner of life and discovers that the key isn’t found in earthly pursuits but in a relationship with Jesus. True life is found only in Him. Our ultimate purpose? To please Him, love Him, enjoy Him, and make Him known.
So, how do we please God? The answer is simpler than you might think: obedience. Just as a parent finds joy in a child’s obedience, God finds joy in ours. We can grieve the Spirit when we sin, but we can also bring delight to the Father when we obey. Pleasing God requires intentionality. Yes, we should be intentional in searching for Him, spending time in His presence.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:7
This powerful verse reminds us that true wisdom starts with a deep respect for God’s holiness and a submission to His will. A fool, as I discovered, is someone who refuses to listen to wisdom or learn from discipline. The fear of the Lord isn’t about being scared; it’s about honoring and revering God as the Creator of the universe. This reverence is the bedrock of wisdom.
Prayer: Lord, help us to cultivate pure hearts that seek after You. Teach us to forgive as You have forgiven us and to recognize the true battles we must fight. May we find our purpose in pleasing You, loving You, enjoying Your presence, and making You known to others. Grant us wisdom as we stand in awe of Your holiness and submit to Your will. Amen.
