Scripture Focus: Mark 12
In Mark 12, Jesus reveals who He truly is and what it means to belong fully to God. He is the stone the builders rejected who has become the cornerstone (Mark 12:10). Though rejected by many, Jesus remains firm in truth and teaches the way of God with integrity, not swayed by human opinions or appearances (Mark 12:14). His life shows us that faithfulness is not about pleasing people, but about standing firmly in God’s will.
This integrity is reflected in how we live every day. Jesus teaches, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s” (Mark 12:17), reminding us that our lives carry responsibility both in the world and before God. Yet above all, our hearts belong to Him. Everything we have and everything we are comes from God and should be offered back to Him in faith and obedience.
Jesus then points to the widow who gives two small coins (Mark 12:43–44). While others give from their abundance, she gives all she has. Her offering reveals what true devotion looks like—not the size of the gift, but the depth of trust behind it. She listens to God with delight and responds with her whole heart.
All of this leads to the greatest commandment: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength” (Mark 12:30). Loving God means giving Him more than words—it means giving Him our whole life. It means choosing integrity over approval, obedience over comfort, and trust over fear.
May we learn to listen to God with joy and allow our lives to reflect His truth. Let us stand firm on Christ, our cornerstone, and love Him fully in all that we do.
Prayer
