Daily Reflection: He Endured It All for Me

Scripture Focus: Mark 15

As I was reading Mark 15, I tried to place myself in Jesus’ position and imagine what He must have felt. Jesus went through everything because of you and me. He did not even want to be hurt that way. Who would want to be humiliated, flogged, and crucified? Yet He endured it all out of love. Jesus went through persecution—both emotionally and physically—so that you and I could be reconciled with God.

There is a medical condition called hematohidrosis, which can happen when someone is under extreme stress or facing execution. It causes a person to sweat blood. Jesus experienced this intense suffering. He was beaten, nailed to the cross, and crowned with thorns, even though He was innocent. Just think about that for a moment. Even having a migraine hurts deeply. Now imagine having thorns pressed into your head—not because you did anything wrong, but for the sake of others. That kind of love is unconditional. It is priceless, and our human minds can barely grasp it.

In Mark 15:34, we see Jesus crying out to God, asking why He had been forsaken. In that moment, He felt abandoned by His own Father. Yet He still remained obedient to the very end. And when the centurion, who stood in front of Jesus, saw how He died, he declared, “Surely this man was the Son of God” (Mark 15:38–39). It took seeing Jesus’ suffering with his own eyes for him to believe.

But blessed are we who believe without seeing. Faith is the confidence in what we hope for and the assurance about what we do not see (Hebrews 11:1). We did not witness the cross with our physical eyes, yet we believe with our hearts.

In Mark 15:43, we read about Joseph of Arimathea, who boldly went to Pilate to ask for Jesus’ body. He honored Him with respect and even invested his own money to buy linen cloth to wrap Jesus’ body. His faith was not hidden—it was bold and sacrificial.

This challenges us deeply. If you already believe in Jesus, are you proclaiming His name boldly? Are you investing your life, your resources, and your heart into the Kingdom of Heaven? And if you have not yet received Jesus as Lord and Savior, I invite you to pause for a moment and reflect on what He went through for you personally. Do you see the kind of love He has for you?

Jesus came to give eternal life, and that gift is still available today. His invitation is still open. He is still extending His hand to us, calling us to believe, to follow Him, and to live transformed lives rooted in faith and gratitude.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for enduring suffering out of love for me. Thank You for the cross and for the gift of eternal life. Help me never to take Your sacrifice lightly. Strengthen my faith to believe even when I cannot see. Teach me to follow You boldly and to live a life that honors what You have done for me. I receive Your invitation today with gratitude and humility.
Amen. 🤍
