Scripture Focus: Mark 16
When I read Mark 16, the first words that strike my heart are: “He is not here, He has risen.” These words are full of hope, power, and new life. Jesus did not remain in the grave. He went ahead of the disciples, just as He promised (Mark 16:7). That reminds me that Jesus is always going before me—into my future, into my struggles, and into places I cannot yet see.
Yet, even after hearing the good news, the disciples struggled to believe. Scripture tells us that Jesus rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen Him after He had risen (Mark 16:14). This challenges me deeply. How many times has God shown me His faithfulness, and yet I still doubt? How often do I hesitate to trust His word even when He has already proven Himself?
But Jesus did not stop there. He entrusted His disciples with a mission. He promised that signs would follow those who believe—casting out demons, speaking in new tongues, laying hands on the sick, and seeing them healed (Mark 16:17–18). This reminds me that faith is not meant to stay hidden. Faith moves. Faith obeys. Faith steps out even when fear is present.
After giving them their mission, Jesus was taken up into heaven and sat at the right hand of God. And at the exact time they were told to leave, the disciples went out and began to do what He had commanded. The Lord confirmed His word by the signs that accompanied them. This part inspires me. They did not wait until they felt fully ready—they went. And God met them in their obedience.
This reflection makes me ask myself: Am I believing in the risen Jesus with confidence, or am I still standing in doubt? Am I walking in the mission He has given me, or am I waiting for perfect conditions? Jesus is alive. He goes ahead of me. He confirms His word when I step out in faith.
Today, I choose to believe again. I choose to trust His resurrection power at work in my life. And I choose to walk boldly in the mission He has placed in my hands, knowing that He is with me and will confirm His word through my obedience.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for the power of Your resurrection and the hope it brings to my life.
Help me to believe fully, even when doubt tries to rise in my heart. Give me courage to walk in obedience and trust You as You go before me. Strengthen my faith and use my life for Your purpose. Amen.
