Daily Reflection: Believe, Believe, Believe

Scripture Focus: John 5

“Do you want to get well?” (John 5:6)

This question seems simple, but it goes much deeper than physical healing. Jesus is not only asking about the body—He is speaking to the heart. Do we truly want to be made whole? Do we really want change, freedom, transformation? Sometimes we grow comfortable in our condition, even when it limits us. But Jesus invites us into something greater—into a life restored by Him.

Jesus reminds us that God is always at work. “My Father is always at His work to this very day, and I too am working” (John 5:17). Even when we don’t see it, even when nothing seems to be changing, God is moving. He is not distant or inactive—He is continuously working in our lives, shaping, healing, and drawing us closer to Him.

Jesus Himself models perfect alignment with the Father. He does nothing on His own but only what He sees the Father doing (John 5:19–20). His judgment is just because He does not seek His own will, but the will of the One who sent Him (John 5:30). This challenges us: whose will are we seeking? Our own desires, or the heart of God?

We also see that many were willing to enjoy the light for a time. John was “a lamp that burned and gave light,” and people chose for a season to walk in that light (John 5:35). But temporary excitement is not the same as true faith. It is possible to be around truth, to hear it, to even appreciate it—and still not fully surrender to it.

This is why the message becomes so clear and urgent: believe. Not just acknowledge, not just observe—but truly believe. Jesus points to the works He does as testimony, yet many still refuse to come to Him to have life (John 5:36–40).

So the question comes back to us again: Do we want to be made well? Because healing, transformation, and life are found in one place—in believing in Jesus.

Let us not settle for temporary interest or surface-level faith. Let us respond fully, surrender completely, and believe deeply.

Believe, believe, believe.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for seeing me and meeting me where I am. Search my heart and help me to truly desire the healing and transformation You offer. Teach me to not live for myself, but to align my life with Your will. Help me to trust that You are always at work, even when I don’t see it. Strengthen my faith to truly believe—not just in words, but in the way I live. Amen.
