Scripture Focus: John 6
“He asked this only to test him, for He already had in mind what He was going to do.” (John 6:6)
Some questions in life are not meant to confuse us, but to reveal us—to show whether we will trust God’s heart or lean only on our own understanding. In this moment, Philip responds with calculation, measuring the need and concluding that even half a year’s wages would not be enough for everyone to have a small portion. Human logic sees the limitation first.
But Andrew brings something different—five small loaves and two fish from a boy. He does not fully understand how it could help such a large crowd, but he still brings it forward. Small, yes—but placed in the right hands, it becomes more than enough.
Then Jesus gives thanks and distributes it. What was insufficient in human hands becomes abundance in His. Everyone eats, and everyone is satisfied. It is a miracle so beyond human reasoning that the mind struggles to fully grasp it.
Later, we see another moment unfold:
“Then they were willing to take Him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the shore where they were heading.” (John 6:21)
There is a hidden miracle here too. Earlier, the wind was strong and the sea was troubled, yet Jesus is seen walking above it all. Storms, agitation, and chaos do not stop Him—He moves over what threatens us.
And when they receive Him into the boat, they immediately arrive at their destination. What feels like delay, struggle, or distance is transformed the moment He is welcomed in. When Jesus is present, even the journey bows to His authority.
The only work God asks of us is to believe in the One He has sent. (John 6:29). So the question becomes deeply personal: will we rely on our logic or choose faith? Will we hold tightly to what looks too small, or surrender it into His hands? Will we face the storm alone, or will we invite Him into our boat?
“To whom shall we go?” (John 6:68)
There truly is no one else. He alone carries the words of life, the power to multiply what we lack, and the authority to bring us safely to where we are meant to be.
Prayer :
Lord, thank You that You already know what You are going to do in my life, even when I cannot see it. Teach me not to be led by my own reasoning, but to trust Your perfect wisdom and timing. Help me to place what I have in Your hands, even when it feels small or insufficient. Remind me that nothing is too little when surrendered to You. In every storm, open my eyes to see that You are already there, above it all. Give me the courage to welcome You into every area of my life, trusting that with You, I will not be lost or delayed. I choose to believe in You, Lord. There is nowhere else to go—You alone have the words of eternal life. Amen.
