Scripture Focus: John 7
“My teaching is not my own. It comes from the one who sent me.” (John 7:16)
Jesus makes it clear that what He speaks does not come from Himself, but from the One who sent Him. His words carry the authority of God. That is why He also says, “Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.” (John 7:24)
So the question comes: should we judge at all? It is not about judging based on what we see on the outside, but about discerning correctly—seeing with truth, not appearances. Because if we judge only by appearances, we may miss knowing Him—and that is what He desires most.
On verse 28, it says that Jesus cried out. He was longing for them to know the One who sent Him—and He still does today. His heart has not changed. He still desires that people truly know God.
Jesus kept going to the people and teaching them, even though He knew that they wanted to kill Him and that others did not trust in Him. He did not stop. He did not hold back. His mission and His love were greater than rejection.
“Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me… rivers of living water will flow from within them.” (John 7:37–39)
Now, we have these rivers of living water flowing from within us—those of us who have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior. This is not something small or hidden. It is life-giving, powerful, and meant to flow.
So the question becomes: are we sharing this life-saving, exciting news with others, for them too to be saved?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your truth and for revealing the Father to us. Help me not to judge others by appearances, but to see rightly through You. Give me a heart that longs for others to know You, just as You do. And help me to share the living water You have placed within me. Let my life reflect You. Amen.
